Profile
Tower building, on the corner of Water street and the Strand. What was once an old banking area for the building is now Lucaya (say “look higher” without the h), a large, airy space with huge windows overlooking Water Street and which is accessed through the main entrance.
Lucaya is the little sister of the well-loved Rococo Coffee House on Lord street, but the decor, ambiance and menu is all new. For lunch there are panini, eggs, home made soup, salads and sandwiches. The grilled cheese on sourdough bread will leave you full and greasy lipped, but very happy. Eat downstairs, or take food upstairs to the mezzanine, where you can keep an eye on the people below!
Anyone who has holidayed in the Bahamas may know that Lucaya is the name of an area of the largest town, Freeport, on the Grand Bahama Island. No tropical temperatures or golden beaches here though, the only echo of distant shores is the name and a proliferation of large palms.
The famous Rococo friendliness, atmosphere and customer care are just as evident here, under the excellent direction of the dynamic duo, Barbara and Agnis, and their staff. Lucaya is open every day from eight to four and breakfast is served all day. Lucaya has wheelchair access and can cater for larger groups of visitors. What’s more…. all independent Liverpool card holders get an exclusive 10% discount on everything purchased!
