Free community firework displays return to Wirral’s parks

Wirral Council have announced the community firework displays will be returning to Wirral’s parks this year.

Residents will be able to enjoy free community fireworks across the borough as the council’s parks and countryside service prepare to light up the sky on bonfire night weekend.

Firework displays this year will be across two nights, Friday 5 November and Saturday 6 November.

On Friday 5 November, displays will start from 6.30pm at:

  • Lingham Park, Moreton
  • Mayer Park, Bebington
  • Woodchurch Leisure Centre, Woodchurch
  • Mersey Park, Birkenhead
  • Leasowe Adventure Playground, Leasowe

On Saturday 6 November, displays will start from 6.30pm at:

  • Birkenhead Park, Birkenhead
  • Central Park, Wallasey

The fun begins early on Saturday 6 November with both Central Park and Birkenhead Park hosting a funfair to entertain the whole family from 12noon until 6pm.

Visitors are advised to wrap up warm and use public transport to and from the displays and follow COVID-19 advice as there won’t be any extra dedicated parking for the events.

A spokesperson at Wirral Council, said:

“Families and friends around the borough will be able to come together to enjoy these fantastic displays at Wirral’s beautiful parks and open spaces, and it is going to be lovely to see the community returning to a well-enjoyed tradition on the weekend of bonfire night.

“If you are going to attend one of these events, please wrap up warm, stay safe and be considerate of others – it is so important that we continue to protect ourselves and others from COVID-19 by continuing to regularly clean our hands, wearing a face covering and maintaining a safe distance from others where possible.”

Visitors attending the firework displays or the funfair are advised to do a COVID-19 test beforehand to protect others.
