Premier League: Everton vs Sheffield United; Surely a home win beckons?

  • May 16, 2021
  • Elliot Thompson

This year Everton have only won one home game in the league.

Just one.

This is the same side who had Champions League aspirations before the new year so you don’t have to spend too long figuring out why they won’t be in Europe’s elite competition next season.

So another home game awaits and it is against bottom of the table Sheffield United who to put it bluntly have been woeful.

Hence why a win should be on the cards at Goodison Park for the first time since the beginning of March.

Sheffield United have won just five games all season and only have 17 points, they’ve been relegated since about Christmas due to how poor they’ve been.

Everton have to win to still be in the race for Europa League so they cannot let the Blades come to their backyard and make a mockery of them, it would be calamitous.

It also cannot be much worse than their last game as the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa was atrocious from every perspective.

For Aston Villa and Everton fans it would have been disappointing to watch their teams perform as badly as they did whilst for the neutral fans, well they will have fell asleep.

Therefore a bit of entertainment wouldn’t go a miss for Evertonians and the man who has provided a lot of that this season is set to be ready for selection again.

James Rodriguez has been missing for the last three games due to a calf injury but he resumed full training on Friday so Ancelotti’s key man should be back to light up Goodison Park.

Unfortunately though his fellow countryman Yerry Mina will not be available however Ancelotti said that he should be back for the next game against Wolves.

Everton need to win at home to stay in contention for any type of European football.

Win at home.

Those three words will worry supporters but that is all part of the fun.
