The Culture Liverpool team have organised a weekend jam-packed of activities to welcome in the year of the Ox.
From Friday 12th – Sunday 14th February people will be able to enjoy creative workshops, photo galleries, music and dance performances as well as marital arts demonstrations. There will also be archive footage of previous celebrations which have all been curated by the city’s Chinese community in partnership with the city council’s Culture Liverpool team.

Locations light up for CNY
As well as the virtual celebrations, hundreds of Chinese lanterns will decorate Nelson Street in the heart of Chinatown and across the three nights buildings will be lit up red to mark the new year.
These include Liverpool Town Hall, St George’s Hall, Cunard Building, George’s Dock building and Sefton Park Palm House.
Also, a new Year of Ox inspired mural is set to appear in the Chinatown area over the next couple of weeks, watch this space! All perfect to visit when on your daily exercise walk over the weekend (please do not visit if not inside your exercise radius)Â
Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Workshops
Celebrate Chinese New Year online with Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse with their series of FREE workshops, from Calligraphy to Chinese Street Dance get involved and learn something new while welcoming in the year of the Ox.
