SERIES ONE – EDITION FOUR

In the fourth edition in our Faces of Liverpool series we caught up with Ngunan Adamu, aged 40 from Wavertree; a Presenter/Producer at BBC Radio Merseyside and Founder of iWoman Academy CIC.

What do you love about Liverpool?

My parents moved me and my brothers  to Liverpool when I was 3 and I remember it like it was yesterday, so I see Liverpool with different lenses… I’ve been fortunate to get opportunities outside of Liverpool but something always draws me back and that is the people, I love our accent, I love our sense of humour, I love our creativity but most of I love our fighting spirit.

Name one main thing about living in Liverpool that makes you proud?

There are so many things in this city that makes me proud, but we are the only city in the UK to have a slavery museum and we are at the forefront of acknowledging and embracing our history.

If you could describe Liverpool in 3 words what would they be?

Creative, Historical and Resilient.

Name one place in Liverpool that holds a special place in your heart?

Princes Park, growing up every festival and carnival would finish off or pass through Princes Park. Toxteth in general has a special place in my heart, that’s the place that accepted me and my family and it’s the first time I truly felt I belonged in Liverpool, especially as child coming from Nigeria.

Is there anything on your ‘Bucket List’ to do in Liverpool that you’re still yet to achieve?

Swim in the River Mersey, but that might not be safe for health reasons LOL!

Do you have any tales of Liverpool or claim to fame while in the city?

I’ve had quite a few being in the creative industry but i remember being an extra on Hollyoaks back in my early 20’s as a waitress in a scene lol and my other claim to fame was when a bus load of us from Liverpool  back in 2006 went to the Price is Right with Joe Pasquale and it was like we were going to Ibiza, i got called down but didn’t make it pass the first round and Joe Pasquale called me a Foxy Lady LOL.
