Liverpool businesswoman Kate Stewart will appear on Steph McGovern’s new Channel 4 daytime show Steph’s Packed Lunch on Monday 28th September as an extraordinary real-life feature.
Kate, who owns The Sandon Complex, supported living accommodation Vitality Homes and a property portfolio, shared her interesting story on how she went from a single teenage mother with no qualifications to an award-winning entrepreneur.
Having not responded well to the traditional education system, Kate left school with nothing.
Now a mother-of-four, she discusses her struggles after giving birth at just 17, going back to her childhood home in Clubmoor and sharing the emotions and memories that visiting her former home evokes twenty years later now that she’s come so far.
Steph’s Packed Lunch explores Kate’s past; her struggles to the moment she decided that she wanted to make a real change and provide a better life for her daughter Kaitlin.
Having knuckled down working as a secretary, her big break came when she took over Liverpool’s Heritage Market, transforming it so that the market was home to 400 stalls, as well as making it an in-demand film set location where she secured the filming of Sherlock Holmes, Captain American and multiple BBC dramas.
On the show, Kate also gives an insight into the trials and tribulations of reopening The Sandon Complex – made up of nine bars, multiple function and hospitality suites and a 20-bed hotel – post lockdown and during a worldwide pandemic.
She said:
“I’m just a normal girl from a council estate in Liverpool that through sheer hard work and determination has made something of herself. I didn’t want to just be another statistic; a single mother on benefits. I wanted more for myself and for Kaitlin and so I worked full time during the day and studied in the night to get the qualifications that I left school without.
“Juggling motherhood with business will always be the most difficult job in the world but I wouldn’t have it any other way – everything I do is for my kids so that I can give them the best life possible. Now, I just want to help as many women whether they’re new to business, single mothers, or just seeking some guidance and support, to reach their dreams and succeed in business.”
Tune into Channel 4 on Monday 28th September to see Kate Stewart reveal her interesting story.
