History made at St George’s Hall – Marriage on the Mintons

Who says you have to go to a chapel to get married, when given the opportunity to take them special vows at one stunning historic venue, St George’s Hall?

Two people who will be making history are Jennifer McPartland and Stephen Gough who are set to tie the knot on Monday 19th August, with the ceremony taking place on the priceless Minton floor which consists of 30,000 handcrafted tiles.

The lucky couple who live in Woolton, fought off competition from nearly 60 couples to win a one-off competition organised by the team at St George’s Hall to offer a potential bride and groom a wedding package worth £10,000.

As well as the incredible venue which will be fully dressed, the prize also includes the bridal gown and bouquet, a drinks package, photographer and videographer and wedding stationery.

Jennifer will make an impressive entrance through the huge bronze doors at the far end of the Great Hall and walk the full length of the tiled floor to the sounds of city organist Professor Ian Tracy on the world-famous Willis Organ. Later, Liverpool’s-own Mezzo Soprano, Danielle Louise Thomas will sing in celebration of the special day. The ceremony is expected to last around 30 minutes.

Along with St George’s Hall, other local suppliers who have contributed to the wedding are White Closet Studios (bride’s dress), Tamzyn Angela (florist and event decoration), Luna June Paper (wedding invitations and stationery), LWC (independent drinks wholesaler providing reception refreshments) and Mersey Sound (providing the PA system).

Anyone interested in getting ‘Married on the Mintons’ in the future can contact a member of St George’s Hall’s wedding team by emailing: weddingssgh@liverpool.gov.uk.
