Famous Pre-Raphaelite paintings return to Lady Lever Art Gallery

Three famous Pre-Raphaelite paintings have returned home to the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight, after being on temporary loan to the National Portrait Gallery in London and the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra.

Visitors to the Lady Lever Art Gallery will once more be able to see these world-leading artworks by Edward Burne-Jones and John Everett Millais when the gallery is next permitted to reopen its doors to the public. 

The Tree of Forgiveness, painted 1882, oil on canvas, by Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898).

The Beguiling of Merlin, painted 1874-1877, oil on canvas, by Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898). 

Returning from the National Portrait Gallery in London. Both Burne-Jones paintings recently returned to the Lady Lever Art Gallery after being on loan to the National Portrait Gallery for inclusion in its Pre-Raphaelite Sisters exhibition.  

A Dream of the Past: Sir Isumbras at the Ford, painted 1857, oil on canvas, by John Everett Millais (1829-1896). 

Returning from Australia (in the exhibition Love and Desire: Pre-Raphaelite Masterpieces from the Tate held at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.
