After having a breakthrough season so far Rhys Williams is set to be rewarded with a brand-new contract keeping him at the club for a number of years.
The length of the deal is not confirmed yet, but it will be great for Liverpool that the Preston born defender is willing to commit his future to the club.
He has been at the club since he was ten years old and due to Liverpool’s defensive injury crisis the 19-year-old has been given his chance on several occasions this campaign.
After making his senior Liverpool debut in the Carabao Cup against Lincoln City he has played a further nine games.
Williams has featured in every Champions League group game and also two league games with his most impressive performance coming in the top of the table clash against Tottenham Hotspur in which Liverpool won 2-1.
He has been first in the pecking order amongst the young centre backs with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp preferring to pick him over the likes of Nathaniel Phillips, Sepp Van Den Berg and Billy Koumetio.
With the congested schedule and more injuries to Joel Matip the youngster is expected to get more chances to impress for the Premier League champions.
